Our story

From a garage in 2014 to a global trade network

E-Silk Route Ventures began in 2014 in a Sri Lankan garage, with 300,000 LKR, about US$1,000, and a conviction that the island’s extraordinary produce deserved a direct, trustworthy route to the world.

In the years since, we’ve grown across e-commerce, retail, wellness, CPG, manufacturing, agriculture and trading, and built a supply chain that today employs over 100 people, most of them from rural Sri Lanka. We’ve established companies in several international markets, so buyers everywhere can source Ceylon produce with confidence.

We remain a supply-chain partner first: sourcing, processing, packing and shipping authentic, certified produce, so our customers can build products and brands on a foundation they can trust.

The name & the mark

Why “Silk Route”

Our identity carries three meanings. It honours the Silk Road, the network of trade routes that connected continents for more than 1,500 years. It stands for Silk Route Ventures. And the “SR” monogram is drawn as a road, a nod to our founder, Sahan Bakmiwewa.
